"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock." – Matthew 7:24 (KJV)
Are You Building to Last?
Have you ever watched a house being built? The most important part isn’t the paint, windows, or decorations—it’s the foundation. Without a strong base, the whole structure is weak, no matter how good it looks.
Jesus tells us that our lives work the same way. If we build our lives on Him—trusting in His Word and actually living it out—we will be strong even when life gets hard. But if we build our lives on temporary things—our own plans, the opinions of others, money, or comfort—then when trouble comes, everything can fall apart.
The difference between a strong and weak foundation isn’t how much Bible we hear, but how much we live. Jesus isn’t calling us to just know His words—He’s calling us to build our lives on them.
Standing on Jesus, Covered by His Blood
The foundation of our faith isn’t just doing good things—it’s trusting in the finished work of Jesus. His blood, shed on the cross, is what saves us and makes us right with God. His love is the solid ground we stand on.
Sometimes, we try to build on other things. Maybe we think we’re strong enough on our own. Maybe we rely on feelings, or think that as long as we go to church, we’re okay. But Jesus wants more for us—He wants a real relationship, where our lives reflect His truth.

Heart Check: What Are You Building On?
Take a moment to think about your life. Here are some questions to help you:
1. What are some things you rely on to make you feel secure? Are they temporary or eternal?
2. Have you ever faced a “storm” (a difficult time) in life? What helped you get through it?
3. Do you find it easier to listen to God’s Word than to actually follow it? What’s one step of obedience you can take today?
4. Read Luke 6:46-49 (KJV): "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" How does this verse challenge you?
5. If Jesus is the Rock, what are some ways you can make Him the center of your daily life?

A Prayer for a Firm Foundation
Heavenly Father,
I don’t want to build my life on anything less than You. I know that everything else—my plans, my strength, my own wisdom—will fail. I need You to be my foundation. Help me not just to hear Your Word, but to live it every day. Thank You for the blood of Jesus that covers me and makes me strong. Give me a heart that obeys, a faith that lasts, and a life that stands firm no matter what comes.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus is calling you to build on something that will never fail. Are you ready to trust Him completely?
Amen đź’“
